USING A BEARD STRAIGHTENER TIPS
Share
Whether it’s your first time growing a beard or you need some help on how to properly style your beard, we’ve got you covered. Below you’ll find a guide on how to use a beard straightener during the maintenance process. It’s time to get down to business and straighten things out!
- Clean your beard. Before you use your beard-straightening brush, you should clean and wash your beard to get rid of any dirt, food particles, and excess oils. Normal body wash or soap bars will get the job done as many of them are cleansing and moisturizing, but it’s best to use a beard shampoo. Many regular soaps can be harsh on beards and dry them out by removing too much natural oil. After you lather on your preferred beard cleaning product, rinse it off with water.
- Pat your beard dry. When drying your beard, avoid vigorously rubbing a towel across your face as this will lead to tangled and frizzy hair (especially if you have a long beard). Over-rubbing your beard can also result in hair loss since you may pull and break strands of hair.
- Straighten your beard. Grab your trusty beard brush straightener and get brushing! Start on one section and comb through the hair smoothly and steadily from top to bottom before moving onto the next. Make sure to start off on a low heat setting to avoid completely frying your beard. Once you get more comfortable with using your beard straightener, you can experiment with higher heat settings. And remember: your brush tool isn’t a flat iron, so don’t hold it over a single spot on your beard for more than a few seconds (unless you want burnt hair). If you feel that certain sections of hair aren’t straight enough, you can always go back and straighten them more. For quality beard straighteners, check out our The Beard Game Straightener.
- Unplug your heated beard-straightening comb. Safety first! If you have a cordless beard straightener, then you can skip this step.
- Moisturize your beard. It’s a good idea to keep your beard hydrated and healthy after combing through it with a high-heat beard straightener. Moisturizing your beard hair will also help to soften them and prevent any curling and split ends. To moisturize and prime your facial hair for the straightening step, you can use beard oils, conditioners, masks, or balms.
